For a few pounds more than a battery tester I have a reliable multimeter
I needed a good battery tester, having experienced that the usual cheap ones were not very reliable. I decided that I may as well invest in a multimeter that could test batteries. I'm very pleased with this - exceptional quality for the price (YouTube reviews attest to build quality) - and it will test 1.5V / 9V batteries 'under load' to give an accurate remaining voltage reading. You have to use the supplied leads to 'touch' the battery +/-contacts so perhaps not as convenient as many specific battery testers, but this multimeter does have a built-in stand which means you have both hands free.

Amazing Multimeter for the Price
Klein Tools MM325 Multimeter, Digital Manual-Ranging 600V AC/DC Voltage Tester: Love my new Klein multi-meter, very accurate readings, nice clear screen, 'normal' batteries, and the leads are good quality. I bought an off-brand hard fabric case for it to keep the leads in good nick. Lovely multi-meter, and just as good as the bigger more-expensive "F" brand units.

Perfect for all my jobs
This is the second multimeter I have purchased. I wanted to test an earthing sheet and the one purchased from Halfords wouldn’t test low enough. This one did the job as much more accurate and a much sturdier feeling device. It has since proved itself again with vehicle fuse checking saving me garage costs. Would thoroughly recommend.
