I thought this was a child discipliner at first, but then realized it's utillity possibilities.
I got this dried flesh strap to put a razor's edge on my work knife because I cut a lot of tape on boxes all day. I know that doesn't require a razor's edge, as a blunted rusty penny can do the same job for cheaper, but in my mind I like to think of the what-ifs. What if... I suddenly get jumped by a pack of ninjas in my stockroom who are after the globe of destiny which will decide which Shogun will finally capture the elusive Sex Lotus? And just WHAT IF those same ninjas come bearing only rubber throwing stars and Styrofoam pirate swords? Well, I would be the only one in the room with a razor edged Buck knife at my disposal, wouldn't I? That would give me the power to overthrow the ninjas, save the girl who would pop up out of nowhere needing to be saved, start my own loyal ninja crime syndicate (once I gave those idiots some real weapons), and cut boxes all day long like Shaft. I wish this thing came with a photo of the animal it was originally a part of so that I could look lovingly into the photo of it's eyes as I honed my blade upon it, thinking about how much better it is to used dried flesh than the awkwardness of trying to rub it on a live cow's thigh. What would we even talk about as I tried that? The strop advertises for knives and scissors. This makes me wonder if ninjas have somehow turned scissors into deadly weapons that need a razor's edge to cut through paper, especially since my nephew has a pair of red plastic Crayola scissors that cut paper just fine. It makes me feel like I'm making a difference in my knife's life by using this thing after a nice run on the old 3000/6000 Japanese water stones. All I've cut is tape on boxes after using it, but I will be darned if that blade doesn't go through that tape a lot better than a pair of plastic Crayola scissors.

Great product for the price
I wanted to wait to write a review until I had it for a while so I could attest to its longevity as well as its quality. I would have to say that with the proper care this product could last a very long time. Long enough to give to my unborn son when he starts shaving. I can hang this anywhere I want and even off of my belt loop if I want to. Here's a pro con chart about this.ProsHigh quality top grain leather (according to a friend of mine who works in a leather shop)Long lasting and durable (I've been using it for about six months with no signs of wear)Four strops in one (due to the double strap design)Keeps the edge of my razors and knives keen and shave readyConsHook and swivel feels a little cheap (though it's held up this long)The leather scratches easily if you strop incorrectly or if you strop serrationsOver all I would say that this product is a great buy and that there is no need to pay the huge prices on some strops when you can get this one for this cheap. 10/10 would buy again.

Kind of short and cheap. But its not horrible....
I had a nicer strop but a loaned it a guy in the barracks years ago and never saw it again. For the last several years I've been using a belt until I accidentally cut a gouge out of an expensive concealed carry (pistol) belt and decided it was time to get a new strop. I really should have shopped better. This strop is pretty short. It's good leather but you you don't development a good stroke. Also if you're honing wider blades more often there are wider strops. The OVERALL length of this strop is 23" a good length is closer to 2'. The course strop (I'm not sure of the technical name) behind the leather is typically a strap of heavy white nylon or canvas embedded with white jewelers rouge. This strop has some weird vinyl/pleather like material with a course velvet side(?yeah sounds odd). I'm really not sure if I'm using it right or if I got a defect. Anyway the leather side is nice so I'll just use that.

Would not recommend this to anyone who plans on honing more than a kitchen knife ...
Was excited to use this on my new straight razor. Strop was a bit smaller than expected. Upon closer inspection, there was a large bump in the leather due to the fold for shipping. Also, it was very clear that this had been used prior, with two shallow cuts in the leather. Would not recommend this to anyone who plans on honing more than a kitchen knife, or as a practice strop for straight razor shavers. I decided not to return it because it'll still be useful as a practice strop.**UPDATE**I decided to order another strop and give them another chance. This one was clearly new. Unlike the original strop, which came in nothing more than the envelope it was sent in; this strop was nicely packaged in a loose plastic packing bag, and second a sturdier plastic bag. I wish I could give this product an extra star, but I just can't. There are just too many imperfections in the leather grain to make it usable for straight razor stropping. A large crease near the bottom from the folding of the strop, and poor grain near the top gives me about 5 inches of acceptable strop surface.

Works perfect!
I've always been a fan of sharp blades. This strop has allowed me to get that hair popping edge I have always desired.Construction seems well done, with 2 seperate straps connected to the same swivel clip. This gives you 4 strops in one.I start by "crayoning" some emery (rough) polishing compound on the rough side of the brown strap. This allows for faster cutting. I then move to the rough side of the black strap which I coated with diamond (medium) polishing compound. I then move to the smooth side of the black strap coated with emerald (fine) polishing compound. I keep the smooth brown side of the strop compund free for the final polish and this system seems to work for me! For 13 bucks and some change this really is a good buy if you want to have and maintain any cutting instrument at optimal performance.
