Excellent Pizzelle Maker
I chose the Chef's Choice Express Bake based on the great reviews I read before making my decision on which one to buy. The price is moderate, and I hoped all the glowing reviews would be true. They were. Our very first batch was perfect, and it only took a couple to fine tune the amount of time needed for each baking cycle. We do not use the classic recipes as my husband has cancer and we must be very careful of refined flours and heat damaged fats. Bryanna Clark Grogan published a Pizzelle Cracker recipe on her site, which prompted me to buy this, so my husband could have crackers again. They turned out perfect on the first try! Whole grains, olive oil, nut milk, salt and baking powder-very clean and healthy! This is so much easier than making crackers in the oven and trying to roll out the dough to consistant thickness. We did find it necessary to let them crisp in the oven at 170 for 15-18 min. They then stay fresh and crisp until finished. The crackers take 1 minute to bake, then toward the end, I cut it to 50 seconds, as it seems the iron gets a little hotter as it is used. I try to keep these crackers on hand a good deal of the time, as they are excellent with soup, as a snack spread with all fruit jam or organic apple butter, or just plain. We also use Bryanna's recipe for the sweeter cookie type; I use coconut oil in those, and half whole wheat flour. Again, perfect, delicious and healthier than most cookies. These take about 40 seconds at the beginning and then we cut it to 30, and then to 25 toward the end. We have flavored these with vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg-delicious. I now have some anise oil and will try a batch with that soon. We find them absolutely delicious spread with a thin layer of whipped cream (We use coconut whipped cream) and drizzeled with a little chocolate for a special treat. I would buy this again, and would also give it as a gift to anyone wanting to to do this kind of cooking. I highly recommend it for moderate price and great performance.

Fast!! Crisp!!
Really nice pizzelle maker. Very fast working and ultrathin pizzelle. I had researched this and got recommendations from a friend because I wanted the thinnest pizzelle that I could make. This absolutely does the trick. There is a slight learning curve to this. You have to learn where exactly to place the batter, and how much batter to use in order to get the right size cookie. I went through quite a few cookies before I figured this out. Since I don’t make a lot of them I’m going to have to re-figure this out again when I attempt to make them again. However, I would highly recommend this product because the end result out is spectacular if your goal is to have crispy, thin pizzelle. It is sturdy and well-made. It stores vertically, which is great if you don’t have a lot of space in your cupboards for storage.

A Delight To Use!
We love our pizzelle maker, and here's why. 1. It's really easy to use - plug it in, wait for the light to go out to indicate it's ready, and you're good to go. There are no controls to set, and you don't need to fiddle with any dials to alter the temperature or brownness. 2. It's fast - we can bake 40 pizzelles in about 20 minutes. 3. We make pancake-style pizzelles (so they're soft, rather than crispy), using Garvey's Organic Pancake & Waffle Mix, 9-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) , but unlike when you make regular pancakes, every one comes out perfectly - there's no having to throw away those first few pancakes. 4. Because they're really small and thin, they get cooked all the way through, unlike regular pancakes which can be doughy and overcooked if the batter is too thick. These pancake-style pizzelles come out perfectly every time. We use 1 tablespoon of batter per disk. 5. Clean-up is also quick and easy - just a quick wipe down with a damp paper towel and you're done. We've used this pizzelle maker several times and we love it.

Be careful in removing pizzelles! Coating wears off
This is a great little machine, heats fast, cooks quickly. Two issues: it really smokes so provide plenty of air circulation. The nonstick coating is very, very thin. Third time using it is wearing off. I use a small fork to gently life the pizzelle off; coating has worn off already. The coating seems to be applied in an extremely thin layer. Not thrilled about this occurrence.

Love affair with PIZZELLE!
After struggling with an inferior pizzelle maker I just about gave up my hopes of serving them and giving them as gifts for Christmas this year- until I tried one more time with this one! I am SO HAPPY I DID! I am in LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! I made every kind of pizzelle you can think of! As long as you get your timing down, the pizzelle as always PERFECTLY crispy and even- and between the simple recipe included in the book and all those on Pinterest- you can’t go wrong! The only thing I am struggling with now is my obsession with making MORE!

FINALLY!! .....FORGET IT!!!!!!
I come from an Italian family and these were always a treat in my grandma's house. She had a press from the 1960's that was handed down to my mom. The pizzelles came out thin, crispy and delicious. Somewhere in the 1990s, mom broke the news that grandma's pizzelle maker had passed on just like grandma. We just had to get another one. We couldn't find that particular brand of maker so we bought what we could find in our local Italian market (before ordering on the internet became so easy). The pizzelles were just not the same. They were way too thick so mom stopped making them. I bought a couple more in the early 2000's and I just couldn't get the desired result from those either. Well then the other day, I was in Ocean State Job Lots with my son and we saw pizzelles in a clamshell container and it brought back memories of those delicious wafers that grandma and mom used to make. I immediately came home and searched on Amazon for a press of my own, determined to find one that would duplicate those mmm so delicious wafers from long ago. I spent countless hours reading reviews and I finally came across a review from someone who appreciates the thinness and crispiness necessary in a pizzelle. I took a chance and ordered this press because of her review. THANK YOU, Antoinette!! You made me a very happy girl. I got my press on Friday and I have already made three batches. My family is devouring them. I highly recommend this Chef's choice pizzelle press. You won't be disappointed. Edit November 2025. Since I bought this pizzelle maker, I've had to return two of them defective as they stopped working. The first one died after about 6 uses, the second one died after as many uses and when I received the third one, I was tired of making pizzelles and I put it away in my cabinet. I used it once about a year ago and again a month or so after that. My husband mentioned that I haven't made pizzelles in a while so I busted out the maker. I was halfway through my batter and it stopped heating. This was now maker number three that failed but it's far too late to send it back. I should have known better than to accept a second replacement. I should have just returned it for a refund but I liked the thin, crispy results that it produced. I just looked here on Amazon for the same maker again and noticed that it's not even available any longer. Probably because of the poor quality and workmanship. I am now stuck with a shiny paperweight and am on the lookout for another that will produce the same results without failing after only a few uses. This maker is available under "other buying options" but for a ridiculous $140. Please heed my words and don't spend that much money on this item. If anyone has a recommendation for a new brand for me, please feel free to comment.

... bought this pizzelle maker after much research and are glad we did
We bought this pizzelle maker after much research and are glad we did. We made our first batch of pizzelles yesterday and they came out great. I seasoned it with some vegetable oil and then we used the recipe in the Pizzelle Pro book with butter and we used the anise instead of the vanilla. We also used 3 cups of flour instead of the recommended 4 because we thought the mixture would be too thick. I have a stop watch app on my cell which I set at 30 seconds which we found was the perfect cooking time for our liking. It takes a little practice in getting the right amount of batter on the grill,a heaping teaspoon worked great for us. Cleanup was easy as nothing was stuck to the Teflon coating. All in all this is a great pizzelle maker for the price and the results were very good. We are looking forward to trying different recipes in the future.

Birthday Pizzelles were a success, the 834 Pizzelle Pro.
I bought this Pizzelle maker so that I could make them for my Father in-law in time for his birthday. We made half a batch to send out the next day and had to make a second because we "Tested" the entire first batch away. Its better to have help when you making them but you can do it yourself. It works as advertised, you wait for it to heat up and never have to worry about it again. We used a LCD timer that reset to start again in one tap, and got to the point where we could make an entire batch (about 70 or so) in 30 minutes. read the pamphlet that comes with it as the original anise recipe is great! (we doubled the amount of anise extract). The pamphlet also tells you everything you need to know. Get yourself a plastic fork to lift them off the grill surface to you don't scratch it. That's it Hope your successful if you get one.
